ACTIZA contains tadalafil, a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE-5) inhibitor used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult males. Tadalafil enhances erectile response by increasing blood flow to the penile tissues during sexual stimulation. It works by inhibiting the PDE-5 enzyme, thereby preventing the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which is responsible for smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum. ACTIZA is distinguished by its long duration of action of up to 36 hours, allowing greater flexibility and spontaneity in sexual activity. It is also prescribed in lower daily doses for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), improving urinary flow and symptoms.
